Recent research has found the probable origins of woman who is named in Richard Lanphear's will as his wife Averina. Use of modern technology allowed researchers Patricia Law Hatcher and Michael J. Leclerc to search the online version of the International Genealogical Index for any Averina who married a Richard during the right period. Their search turned up the record of the following marriage: "Averen Vibert to Rich. Lansere, 27 October 1639, Southampton, Hampshire"[1]

Averina's father was deduced from a study of the probate records of Hampshire. In his will dated February 1640/1, Abrahan Vibert, a tailor of Southampton, made bequests to his sons Richard, John the elder, Abraham, John the younger; his daughters Averin, Audrea, Jone; and his now wife, Jane.[1]
